Freeing Yourself from the Stories That Hold You Back

ree

Every one of us carries stories. They are the invisible threads woven from our experiences, shaping the lens through which we see the world. Some of these stories are empowering, guiding us toward growth and possibility. Others, however, quietly limit us, whispering caution and keeping us small.

Often, these stories begin in moments that seemed insignificant at the time. A childhood scolding for being too loud. A punishment for being too bold. Out of protection, our psyche may have concluded: “It’s safer to stay quiet. It’s safer not to be seen.” And so, we shrink ourselves, living in the shadows of that old narrative, missing out on opportunities to shine.

Or perhaps we were told that wealth is selfish, that power corrupts. Our psyche, wanting to stay aligned with belonging and safety, turns away from opportunities that could bring abundance. Without realizing it, we filter life through a lens that was handed to us long ago — a lens that may no longer serve us.

✨ The Power of the Lens

The stories we hold are not facts; they are interpretations. They are lenses. And lenses can be changed. When we pause to ask ourselves:

  • Does this story still make sense for me?

  • Is this lens helping me grow, or keeping me small?

We open the door to transformation. Changing the lens changes the life. What once felt like a limitation can become a lesson. What once felt like a shadow can become light.

🌱 An Invitation

So ask yourself: Who would I be without the stories I hold on to?   Would you be louder, bolder, freer? Would you allow yourself to be seen, to step into abundance, to embrace joy?

The stories we carry are not permanent. They are choices. And when we choose to release the ones that no longer serve us, we step into a new way of being — one that is rooted in possibility, not fear.

🌅 Closing Thought

Your life is not defined by the stories of your past. It is defined by the lens you choose today. Change the lens, and you change the story. Change the story, and you change your life.
