Innate Wisdom and the Layers of Protection Surrounding the Authentic Self;

Imagine your true, authentic self as the innermost part of a beautiful Russian nesting doll. This smallest doll represents your higher self—pure, unchanging, and deeply connected to your essence. It holds your truest identity, free from the influence of external forces.
As life unfolds, we encounter challenges, conflicts, and unexpected shocks—what German New Medicine refers to as "biological conflicts." These events prompt the body, brain, and psyche to work together, forming protective layers to shield the vulnerable core. Each larger doll around the innermost one represents a layer of protection, crafted from these experiences.
For instance, a separation conflict might add a layer to guard against the pain of loss, or a self-devaluation conflict might form a shell to bolster feelings of worthiness.
But these layers are not just created—they are maintained by the stories we tell ourselves. Each shell is held in place by a narrative that gives meaning to our experiences and justifies the protection. For example:
After a conflict of rejection, the story might be, “I need to keep my guard up to avoid being hurt again.”
Following a failure, the narrative could become, “I’m not capable, so it’s safer to stay small and unseen.”
These stories feel true because they once served an important purpose—they helped us survive and adapt. Over time, however, the protective layers and their accompanying narratives can disconnect us from our authentic self, limiting our ability to fully connect with others and the world.
The healing journey is like gently peeling back the layers of the nesting doll. It involves recognizing and questioning these stories, understanding their origins, and seeing that they are not the absolute truth. In the context of GNM, this process allows the body, brain, and psyche to release old patterns and restore harmony. As each layer falls away, we reconnect with the core—the pure, authentic self that has been there all along.
This analogy reflects the profound wisdom of the body and its innate drive to protect, heal, and guide us back to our essence. It reminds us that even beneath the thickest shells, our true self remains intact, waiting patiently to be rediscovered.
